If you already have knowledge of the subject, you may enter a higher level through the Institutional Placement Exam. To do so, the student (or the parent/guardian if the student is a minor) must:

Complete the pre-registration for the program.

Request the exam
Request the Institutional Placement Exam at any of our campuses or by email: ilrecep1@uis.edu.co.
Receive instructions
If you submitted your request by email, you will be informed through the same channel about the procedure for taking the exam.
Placement result
After taking the exam, you will receive an email with information about the level you are eligible to enroll in (check your SPAM folder).
Enrollment and payment
Once the placement process is completed, proceed with enrollment and payment receipt generation.
Note:
- Enrollment becomes effective only three business days after the tuition payment has been made.
- Paying your tuition receipt in advance increases your chances of choosing a preferred schedule. Please note that seats are limited.
- Keep in mind that the start dates for classes are established throughout the year in the Institute of Languages calendar.

The UIS Language Institute offers Spanish as a Foreign Language courses. These courses are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are designed to meet the linguistic and intercultural needs of international students whose native language is not Spanish by developing different communication skills.
This program includes guided visits to places of interest within and outside the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area.

Requirements

Eligibility
Be an international student whose native language is not Spanish.
Previous Knowledge of Spanish
Applicants who have previously taken Spanish courses or have prior knowledge of the language must indicate this.
Required Documentation
Students must provide the following documents:- Copy of passport or identification document.
- Valid immigration status (visa or permit authorizing their stay and study in the country).
- Medical insurance or health coverage valid for the duration of the course.
